Andrea Percy

I¹m a digital artist who creates photo paintings. My father, photographer Mike Bunt, encouraged me to pursue my visual interests from an early age. Some of the artists who have influenced my work are: Joseph Cornell, Georgia O¹Keefe, Edward Hopper, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee and David Hockney. None of these people are photographer artists.
I started out studying the drawing and painting of portraits and still life from 1980 to 1987 at the Royal Ontario Museum, the Jewish Community Centre in Toronto and other diverse places. Finally I went to the Ontario College of Art & Design and graduated in 1992. I worked as a graphic designer for fifteen years, including four years as the package designer for Orica Canada in Toronto and four years running my print and web design company, cooperstudio inc., in Markham, Ontario.
For me fine art is much more difficult to accomplish than design work, because the ideas have to come totally from within myself. The people closest to me are my husband Charles Cooper and my sons Adam and Eric Percy. I¹ve lived in Lindsay Ontario since March 2005.
