Clay Andrews

My paintings are an inner dialogue that try to resolve and answer questions of a spiritual or emotional nature. Sometimes I find myself at war with my works. This is a form of normalization for me. I am not trying to be revolutionary or trying to make a political statement in any way through my art. I am just doing what I want to see.

Clay Andrews is self-taught Brooklyn based artist his abstract acrylic works are “about the moment” and transform refuse into art objects. Born in the country in Essex, England, Clay grew up in Athens, Georgia and studied Pathology at Augusta Medical College (1991-1992) before turning to music and art. Clay was awarded a travel grant to Tokyo from the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts’ In-Studio Program in 1998.
