Our life's vicissitudes and daily experiences mold and reshape our way of thinking and view of ourselves. As a humans we know that this is the case, but in our daily contacts with people we only experience their facial expressions and body language. What lies beneath the surface remains within the realm of that human being. As a predominant figurative artist I have always made the human image the focal point of my artistic expression, and people have always been my concern. However, I have set aside the photographic rendition of the subject and have searched for the emotions that lie beneath the surface. In my work I have always attempted to reveal a state of being of the subject and not what she/he appears to our visual perception. The emerging image has to convey those unique and personal experiences that make us what we are: humans. That's what I have striven for in my artwork.
