I paint and draw because I need to, because it is very natural to me, like my body. Being able to paint and appreciate art was quite a journey for me.
Growing up as a Chinese Malaysian, there were many social and peer pressures and expectations to be a professional like a doctor, engineer, lawyer, etc. When I was a teenager, a lot of my friends, even my teachers,
would call me names such as "Chinese Betrayal" or "Western Snake" because I always chose art/painting over Chinese Language/literature. Nobody understood the passion I have toward art. I remember the first time I picked up a brush, I felt like a new born.
From that moment, I never stopped creating art again.
