Lady Bird

These nine works were made and exhibited in 2008. They are prints made from copper, brass and aluminium etching plates. The first three works refer to a prior work in mixed media on paper which deals with self-introspection. The main female image (Myself? Womanhood in general?) is watching a "replay" of her past, real or imagined, transgressions against her own code of behaviour. The bird image, which is my alter-ego, comes to deal out the punishment and slowly the lady becomes the bird itself, the Ladybird. The question is: will she punish herself, or others? Either way she is the victim.
