Lakshmi Prabhala

Lakshmi is an Electrical and Electronics engineer and has worked for a number of years in software design and development. She has worked on various software platforms and has had extensive experience in Application programming in the Client-Server technologies. She had also worked as a free lance photo-editor for a publishing house, Visual Quest India in Hyderabad. She is currently on a sabbatical and works as an independent photographer based out of Hyderabad, India.
While in fifth grade, at the age of 10, she did sketch and paint but that's about all the formal training she had. She considers herself a self-taught photographer but she totally agrees that she has been benefited immensely from the works of so many professional/amateur photographers that she has seen online on various photo sharing websites.
When she was presented with a Digital Point and Shoot camera two years back in 2005, by her brother Mohan, Lakshmi had taken to photography instantly. More recently she has upgraded her equipment to a digital SLR, Nikon D80, and has decided to take photography more seriously. With her DSLR she hopes to overcome the limitations of a point and shoot camera and come up with not only technically better shots but also try look for a more creative viewpoint and experiment with the exposure/focus. What drives her as an artist is the quest for understanding the world, to observe how things actually are and how they are perceived. She finds it strange that many things go amiss and are seen only when they are framed. Although she tries her hand at various genres she is drawn more to the street photography. That's where she believes she has an opportunity to observe life and if lucky try to catch it while it is happening.
