Mercedes Calcano

Mercedes Calcano became a Professional Pianist at IUDEM School of Music where she obtained her Bachelor in Music. (Piano Performance) She took advanced training courses in Harmony at Ars Nova Institute and a Diploma in Piano Performance. Mercedes initiates her musical studies at Padre Sojo and Juan Jose Landaeta Music Schools, where she studied piano with Professors: Garcia Guinand, Olga Lopez, David Ascanio and Carlos Duarte. Finalized these, it is granted a scholarship by Fundayacucho to take superior studies of Music at the University Institute of Musical Studies with the International Pianists Harriet Serr, Arnaldo Pizzolante and Igor Labrov. Likewise she attended several Courses and Master Classes with recognized Pianists such as Judith Jaimes and Abraham Abreu (Venezuela), Monique Duphil (France), Raquela Adonaylo (USA), Alfonso Montesinos (Chile), Frank Fernandez (Cuba), Gerald Gonzalez (Mexico). Performations at Padre Sojo, Olga López, Prudencio Esaa ,Lino Gallardo Schools of Music and in the Concert halls: Museum Teresa Carreño, Sala Ríos Reyna of the Theater Teresa Carreño, Sala Corpgroup, Foundation Vicente Emilio Sojo, Theater of Opera de Maracay, Quinta Anauco, Museum of the Keyboard and Jose Antonio Calcaño Foundation.

As a Piano and Music professor she carries out different projects from her responsibility, where the “Piano Experimental” courses stands out which are dedicated to get children starting at age 3, to learn to play the piano in an easy and diverting way. This project was successfully carried out in the Conservatory for the National Orchestra Youthful Simón Bolivar and Jose Antonio and Carmen Calcaño Foundation, with others projects such as Starting to Know & Enjoy The Academic Music directed to Basic and High schools students , which took place in Consolidado Bank of Venezuela Auditorium during 4 years; and Recorder is Easy and Learning to Write and Read Music for children in prescholastic age in several schools . Years between 2003 and 2006 came with studies of Improvement of the Piano, ¨Groups Dynamics ¨ at Ciedis Institute of Social Studies., as well as the “Basic Formation in Gestalt Psychotherapy” in the Venezuelan Institute of Gestalt Therapy and ¨Psychodrama¨ in the Venezuelan Institute of Psychodrama. Drawing and painting studies took place at the Caracas Museum of Fine Arts, and language and Techniques in the school of Fine Arts “Thaller”. At the same time she carries out studies in sculpture at the “Praesagium School of Art”. She is invited to participate in the First Collective Exhibition “Souls and Spirits who Expose themselves ¨ in December of the 2004 and in 2005 to the Museum of Fine Arts Exhibition named : “The Human Figure… Subject and Pretext”. Mercedes was invited to illustrated for Latin American MonteAvila Publishers for whom it has made diverse works between which they emphasize: ¨Lechuza, lechuza¨ and ¨Josefa fought with the Cardones¨ Calcaño´s works can be seen in ¨Galleria Poseidon.¨ (Pampatar, Isla de Margarita), ¨Arte and Encuentro¨ (C.c. Vizcaya, Caracas), ¨ Arte and Cañuela¨ (C.C. Las Mercedes), ¨OC Gallery (C.C. La Boyera), Gallery and Marquetry Mercedes. Nowadays she works widely in sculpture and painting and dictates Music, Art and Personal Training Courses.
