Born in Marocco, Nora. B spent her childhood and her adolescence within a big family in Mekhnes, in beautiful house located in the Medina, decorated by her paternel grand-father, craftman, architect, decorator and notable.
From her birth, her eyes were familiar to the sumptuous colors of the mosaics in the patio, to the warm arabesques of the multiple doors decorated with tints obtained from a clever blending of the yellow from ostrich eggs, safran, chili, henna and other natural pigments.
She grew up, flimsy and curious among women and children, lonesome and dreamer, hungry of knowledges and readings, chatterbox and mute, a bit strange and secret with multiple ambitions and a desire for recognition and affirmation rooted in her.
Read, besiege public libraries, write, draw, decorate, create, express, invent and walk out of the already known pathways looking for a self-accomplishment in harmony with her deep being has always guided her.
In 1983, she meets an art collector, they become friends and he introduces her to the work of Gaston Chaissac whom she since admires a lot. He also introduces her to Robert Combas for whom she will work during seven years. Later on, she works two years for J. Soustiel, in his islamic ceramic gallery. During that learning period, meeting artists in Paris and other places, Nora. B discovers and is filled with wonder by painting, listening of poetry, admiring theatre and touched by literature ; all these expressions of art touch her.
Her friend collector encourages her to paint. But Nora. B doesn’t feel ready for it. She will sail looking for a shore to secure. She will find it in painting and collage when wandering on her pathway, looking for an ideal that would sublimate her quest for fulfilment.
Synthethis of three cultures, berber, arabic and european, Nora. B is rooted in the french culture but still looking for something else. She wants to feed her difference above all, to exist, as she says, for she has been long enough left on the side of the road.
In 2001, as a self-thaught, she gets onto the world of art and decides she would not be distracted anymore, by any means, from her own creation. She discovers different techniques, as collage, before choosing painting,, mainly with oil, particularly appropriate to her sensitiveness. From that moment on, many expositions will take place in Paris and other towns.
From this period, her talent hasn’t stopped asserting itself, through the growing variety of the themes and her palette. The genuineness of her work is demonstrated by the renewal and the variety of her pieces.
Today, her approach is going deeper, leading to a change in the production techniques of the shapes. Passing from small to bigger format, and from collage to painting, the Pop art signs got in the back to leave space to other forms inspired from byzantine icons.
